Hey there! Its me again! So this week has been pretty good for me. I’ve been working through some tough stuff personally so more about that at another time.
We did our internships this week as well as our WOWs. Pretty cool… but the best one was when on Friday we found out that the school that we are interning at want us to be in their Revolution Day Parade with all the students and teachers… I felt so loved…
On Saturday instead of doing laundry like we usually do in the morning our leaders decided we should do something else. So… we went with the people in our group who intern at the women’s prison and got to meet alot of women there who are close friends now to the girls from our group. We met this one girl who is actually an american citizen who was in there for breaking the law and she told us what its been like down here for her. Amazing woman… My heart truly goes out to those women (and their kids too.. yes they do let the women who are pregnant have the babies and raise them in the prison with them until they are 5 and then they have to go to school and live with a relative outside the prison or they are sent to an orphange while they attend school.) Truly hard times for these women…
Yesterday we got to do our WOWs and it was pretty amazing. We got to talk to this one lady who is the daughter of one of the older women we usually go visit. She was telling us how when she was living in North Carolina the church she had been attending for the longest time suddenly got a new pastor and he kicked her out of the church… all because she was Mexican. It was so hard to hear that story and how she suddenly was being discriminated by the people she trusted the most. Absolutely broke my heart.
We also had one of our drimis performed for the first time yesterday! Check it out!
Coodoes and Congrats to Matt, Laura, Lauren and Abby for the awesome drimi! Hopefully we will do more!
Oh yeah and today… the weather has started changing… it is freezing cold down here! Seriously it started out today like in the 70-80s and in a matter of like an hour it dropped to like 45-50 degrees! Seriously… I really can´t wait for the cold weather though! Hope things are good for all… until next time!
Jeanne 😉
